Intelsat

Enabling Maritime

“This is the best-looking ebook I’ve ever seen.”

Numbers don’t lie. (But they’re lousy storytellers.)

Broadband connectivity is an increasingly vital resource for the global maritime industry. But Intelsat didn’t want people just taking their word for it. So they commissioned a collection of responses from industry operators on topics ranging from operations to crew wellbeing. But when the results came back, they were just… results. There was no story, no overarching theme or easy takeaways. We had our work cut out for us.

Let’s give them something to gawk about.

To accommodate all the data and give it a linear narrative people would actually be interested in reading, we decided on the venerable ebook. After all, ebooks are great for this type of thing if used correctly. That is, if they possess the right balance of words, visuals, and ideas to carry the story, and aren’t just a mashup of seemingly disparate assets (most ebooks).

Just the best damn ebook ever.

Keeping readers with you to the last page means giving them value along the way. Every page had to be so good you’d want to put it on your wall. No problem. It started with a strong story. What was the data really telling us? Once we had that, we established a creative layout and visual hierarchy, so not only would people keep turning the pages, but they could easily navigate to the parts most relevant to them. The result was a compelling asset that leveraged almost every brand element in our quiver, along with a ton of visualization that truly made each page unique—not to mention guided design on a variety of assets that followed.
