When People.ai overhauled its brand and became Backstory, a paid media campaign was needed to support the launch—and an idea that spoke to their audience. So, we derived a metaphor for how their sales AI works to connect disparate points into something actionable. The language was painted. Mirroring impressionism or pointillism, where the final outcome doesn’t emerge until the end, different motions and expressions come together to form a complete picture.
Midjourney, Gemini, Nano Banana, Veo 3, Topaz, and ElevenLabs were all instrumental. From ideation to final execution, our campaign videos led with a hand-painted style that stood out from the competition, and paid off the thoughtful approach of the new brand. What normally would’ve taken weeks of planning, days on set, hundreds of takes, and a highly-specific artist actor mashup, we mastered with generative support, pulling off the creative in under a week.
The tools set us free.
Generative tools let us test and iterate without limits. Concepts were on and off the chopping block quickly, and we weren’t beholden to what wasn’t working. This also meant our final, presentable ideas became stronger—storytelling could be refined with ease and more intent than if we were stuck in a single medium.
It takes the combination of storytelling, production, and editing expertise to guide tools like this. The outcome was perfectly tailored to the brand, and helped their audience see the whole picture.
