Privacy Policy
This policy explains what this website collects, why, who we share it with, and how to switch the optional parts off. It covers fictiontribe.com only.
1. Who we are
Fiction Tribe is a creative studio based in Portland, Oregon. We are responsible for the information described in this policy. Under European and UK data protection law we act as the “controller” for that information.

2. What we collect
Information you send us
If you use the form on our Talk page, we receive the name, email address and message you type into it. That message reaches our inbox through Formspree, and our marketing platform may also record the submission. If you email or call us instead, we receive whatever you choose to include. We do not ask for, and this site has no way to take, payment details.
There are no visitor accounts on this site, so there is nothing to register for and no password for us to hold.
Information collected automatically
When you load a page, our hosting provider and the analytics and marketing tools listed in section 4 may record your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, the pages you view, how long you spend on them, the site or advert that referred you, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Approximate location from an IP address is city-level at best — it is not your precise location, and this site never requests it.
Information stored in your browser
Some information stays on your own device and is never sent to us. That includes your light or dark theme setting, your privacy choice from the cookie banner, and — unless you have opted out — counters recording which projects, services and filters you click, which we use to order the work shown on the site.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
“Cookies and similar technologies” includes cookies, browser local storage and session storage. This is the complete set used on this site.

The providers listed in section 4 set their own cookies and
identifiers as well. Because those are managed through our tag
manager rather than written into this site, the exact list changes
from time to time; the categories in section 4 describe what they
are for. Cookies you are likely to see include _ga and
_ga_* (Google Analytics), _clck and
_clsk (Microsoft Clarity), __hstc and
hubspotutk (HubSpot), _li_dcdm_c and
bcookie (LinkedIn), MUID (Microsoft
Advertising) and snitcher_device_id (Snitcher).
Loading a page also causes your browser to contact Google Fonts, Cloudflare and jsDelivr for fonts, video and code. Those requests reveal your IP address to those providers, as any request to any server does.
4. Who we share information with
We do not exchange your information for money. We do use the providers below, and several of them receive information about your visit directly from your browser. Opting out, as described in section 7, stops everything in the first four groups.
Analytics and session measurement

These providers set identifiers that let us and them recognise your browser on other sites, so we can measure and target advertising.

Visitor identification
We use business-audience tools that try to work out which organisation a visitor belongs to, usually from the IP address, so that our sales team knows which companies are interested in us.

Running the site
These are needed for the site to work and are not switched off by an opt-out.

Because these are managed through our tag manager, the exact list can change. We will keep this section up to date. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.
5. How we use information
- To reply to enquiries you send us.
- To understand how the site is used, so we can improve what is on it.
- To measure whether our marketing is working.
- To decide which projects to show you first, based on what you have clicked.
- To keep the site secure and to investigate misuse or technical faults.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
6. Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: legitimate interests to run and secure the site and to answer enquiries you start; consent for analytics and marketing technologies, which you can withdraw at any time; and legal obligation where we are required to keep or disclose information.
7. Your privacy choices
Global Privacy Control
This site recognises and honours the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or extension sends GPC, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising. Analytics and marketing technologies are not loaded at all, the cookie banner is not shown, and that signal takes precedence over the settings below for as long as your browser sends it.

You can change your choice at any time. Declining does not remove any functionality from the site.
Your browser also lets you block or delete cookies directly, and you can install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not exchange personal information for money. However, the advertising and visitor-identification technologies in section 4 disclose information about your visit to those companies, and we treat that as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising — and, on the broad definition used in California and several other US states, potentially as a “sale”. We say so plainly rather than rely on the narrower reading.
To opt out, use the “Manage privacy preferences” button above, or send a Global Privacy Control signal, which we honour automatically. You do not need an account and we will not ask you to create one. We have not knowingly sold or shared the personal information of anyone under 16.

There is no agreed standard for the older Do Not Track browser header, so this site does not respond to it. We honour GPC instead, as described above.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to obtain a copy in a portable format, to object to or restrict how we use it, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of it or of targeted advertising.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within the time the applicable law allows, and we will not treat you differently for asking. We may need to ask for information to confirm who you are before we act. You may use an authorised agent where the law permits it.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you may also complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in California, you may contact the California Privacy Protection Agency.
9. How long we keep information
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to answer you and for our ordinary business records, and delete them when they are no longer needed. Analytics and marketing records are kept for the retention period set in each provider's tool. Server logs are short-lived. Information stored in your browser stays there until you clear it or opt out.
10. Security
This site is served over HTTPS, and we limit access to enquiries to the people at Fiction Tribe who need to see them. No website or method of transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International transfers
Fiction Tribe is based in the United States and our providers process information there. If you are outside the US, using this site involves transferring your information to the US, where data protection law differs from your own. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, transfers are made under the safeguards our providers put in place, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
12. Children
This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and the date at the top. Please check back from time to time.
