Content Creation

The showcase.

Popularized by Apple’s product launches, scroll-driven narratives, where scroll controls video playback and content flow, historically require substantial resources and expertise to implement. That being said, they’re typically out of reach for many brands. To show off our development team’s capabilities and give our clients a concrete look at how we tackle the notorious challenges of premium web experiences, we built SimStim.

A democratized approach.

As this was a project of our choosing, the sky was the limit. We started with the idea of a “product” site that announced a high-end technology—something tangible and physical versus conceptual. To root us in this physical world, our development team took a democratized approach to the site, using a lightweight JavaScript boilerplate that synchronizes video playback with scroll position. This eliminates the need for complex development setups or enterprise-level budgets.

With an imaginative take on William Gibsons’ sprawl series (Neuromancer, Count Zero, Mono Lisa Overdrive), we illustrated how a technology from that world, SimStim, would work for a human subject. By combining GSAP animations with frame-accurate video control, we created a reusable foundation that makes premium experiences like this accessible to smaller teams (and even indie developers).

Get hype.

Envisioning SimStim in this format was an ode to our team’s capabilities. From story to design to development, it’s an end product that represents the breadth and depth of the solutions we can create for our clients. Using our 3D models, animations, “exploded views,” and elevated content, we launched our site showcase on LinkedIn with a bent of intrigue, reaching potential clients and alerting existing ones to the possibility of this new approach for their campaigns.
